We are releasing our new Autotask Web Services API to give you the power to create even more powerful Autotask extensions - those you may use for your own business, and those you may offer for sale to others. Autotask Web Services provide a standard way for outside applications to interact with Autotask. Basically, the Autotask Web Service accepts your request for information based on some search criteria, interacts with the Autotask database through a search engine to obtain the information you requested, and sends the information back to you in eXtensible Markup Language (XML). Autotask Web Services also perform other tasks such as creating service tickets or creating new accounts. As part of our initial release, Autotask has "exposed" key entities including service tickets, service ticket notes, accounts, account notes, contacts, resources, installed products and contracts. We have plans to "expose" invoice, billing items, appointments and service calls in the near future. We look forward to providing the full platform for communication and collaboration of interactive applications. We are very excited about the possibilities for innovation with these Web services. The future direction of the IT Services Ecosystem will be more and more in the hands of solution providers and partners as they extend the Autotask platform in ways that only a true community can.
